Sometimes life comes at you fast.
This can be especially startling if you plan every single second of your life out, you love plans and being prepared, and your name is Mary Carter.
If this is the case, and life comes at you fast, everything might seem like it’s falling down around you and like you’re not going to be able to figure it out and “Oh god why me???????”
Over the years I’ve learned that karma is real, she’s a bitch, and she’ll come for you- good or bad- when it’s your time. If you’re on a down swing, like I was almost a month ago, then she’ll be there to push you back up. The important thing to remember is that she’s going to let go, you’re going to come back down, but that’s life.
I spent my summer working at a fat camp. Well, a weight loss camp but lets be real it was the world’s oldest fat camp. Contractually I am not allowed to say that it sucked or that I didn’t like it, so I won’t say anything (wink wink). And then I came back to Athens, and had a really rough first few weeks, losing someone in my life who meant the world to me.
But through all of the shit I managed to make some new friends, a few that will definitely be lifelong friends, and I managed to learn who adult-Mary is by herself. And she might be a mess, don’t get me wrong, but she’s a badass.
Sometimes life comes at you fast, and you decide to buy a plane ticket to D.C. to see your new best friend in the world. And that’s ok.
Sometimes life comes at you fast, and to combat it you rewatch all of Mad Men. And that’s ok.
Life won’t slow down for you, but it’s important to remember that the world spins on, the sun will rise, and you’ll be ok. Because you always are in the end.
